It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Christmas is one of our favorite times of the year. We love buying presents, decorating our house and keeping up family traditions. This year though, we're doing a few things different. We're scaling back - keeping things simple. Instead of buying presents, we're putting that money into adoption fees. Instead of scouring the stores for new decorations, we're using what we have. One thing we haven't changed is our family traditions. A few years ago, Christopher and I started a new tradition of opening an ornament on the night we pick out and decorate our Christmas tree. This year, we went to a local Christmas tree lot and brought home a cute little 4 footer. It's decorated with ornaments mostly from our first year of marriage and the two ornaments we opened this year - Snoopy on his dog house for Christopher and a red cardinal for me. When Baby Shoe comes, we'll continue this tradition for them. One day, when they have their own home, they'll take all their ornaments and all their Christmas memories with them to decorate their own tree. God willing, Baby Shoe will be home for Christmas next year.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
